It may be that you’ve never heard of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) – well you’re certainly not the only one. And for a relatively unknown car component, it actually has one of the most important jobs in your car, which is to filter out and trap harmful emissions before they escape into the atmosphere.

These emissions are measured during the MOT test and if they don’t meet the strict government guidelines, your car will fail the test.
